All you need is… Beatles
Music Department rocks the house with Beatles tribute
On Thursday, January 19th, all of the high school music department set out to accomplish one task: pay tribute to one of, if not the most important band of all time The Beatles. And pay tribute they did.
The concert was held at the PAC and aimed to pay tribute to The Beatles, a band that has inspired musicians all over the world for more than five decades now. The different sections of the music department had practiced arduously to make sure that the songs would be perfect, and at around 6:30 P.M. the whole auditorium full of anxious fans, friends, family, and lovers was hit with the majestic performances by the music students.
“I think we had the best performance since this year started,” stated Kaya Salazar, one of the performers.
The band prepared weeks before, choosing which songs to sing and practicing over and over to get it perfect.
The students performed several of The Beatles’ biggest hits all through the evening, including “Hey Jude,” “Something,” “A Hard Day’s Night,” and, a personal favorite of mine, “Revolution.” The students played with a level of skill and proficiency that many people did not expect high school students to have despite having obviously put in countless hours of practice.
They gave each song its own distinctive spin, giving the timeless songs new life, and highlighting their own musical prowess.
It was truly an amazing sight to see the different sections of the music department go on stage and sing these songs that are so nostalgic to so many people. Not only that, but creative, personalized, and colorful backgrounds were present for each and every song courtesy of the 2D mixed media students.
To close off the night, G block showed us their usual selves and gave an outstanding rendition of the songs, with even a special appearance from the band’s bassist on the vocals. Though “G Block” showed us an amazing performance to close off the concert, it is important to note that the other departments did an outstanding job.
“I think it was just perfect” Salazar said of the G-Block performance. “The bass was right on pitch and complimented my voice and the song very well.”
Specially I want to bring attention to the choir students and their acapella rendition of “Eleanor Rigby” as well as “Blackbird.”
In conclusion, the concert was a huge success and more than that it was filled with passion for The Beatles and their music that has influenced everyone so much.
