In the exciting world of competitive sports, the girls’ volleyball team from Colegio Menor is making a name for themselves. They show impressive teamwork, determination, and strong friendships.
For captain Sophia Espinel, what will make the difference is the team playing together like a close-knit group of friends.
“We’re not just teammates, we’re friends,” Espinel, a junior, said. The emphasis throughout the season has been trying to create the strong bonds needed to make the team great.
The plan was all working early in the season, when the Bears claimed second place at the AMISA tournament, where Menor smoked Cotopaxi in the semi-finals before falling to Americano in the championship.
Menor went on to lose again to Americano on Oct. 24, but then recorded victories over Cotopaxi and Alliance in more recent matches.
Maintaining moment has been a challenge for the team throughout the season.
“It can be hard to juggle tournaments and practices,” Espinal said. “Some days, not everyone can make it to practice, and that can affect how well the team plays.”
If there’s one thing they want to improve, it’s communication and giving their best during games and practices.
Coach Eve, who joined the team for the 2023-2024 season, plays a crucial role in guiding these girls. She describes her experience as wonderful, but admits it took time to get the team to work well together.
“It takes time and teamwork,” she explains. “Working together and always doing your best is what it takes.”
The players’ opinions are essential in understanding how this team operates. Being part of the volleyball team is an incredible experience, filled with excitement and hard work.
They love representing their school and showcasing their skills and unity. Even with new team members this year, they believe that friendship and trust will naturally grow over time.
“We love being part of the volleyball team because it’s an amazing experience to train, compete, and experience moments of excitement and effort during games and matches,” said ______. “We love being a part of something, especially if it’s representing the school.”
